Caza Oil & Gas;
Began drilling work on a new well in New Mexico following an acreage swap deal involving the Bradley 29 Prospect in Eddy County. Caza recently completed the acreage swap with Mewbourne Oil Company, whereby Caza exchanged acreage in its Lynch Property in Lea County, New Mexico, for a position in Mewbourne’s Bradley 29 and Two Mesas Properties in Eddy County. The trade covered the Bone Spring formation only, and sets up twelve horizontal Bone Spring locations to be drilled in 2012 and 2013. Nicolas Sarkozy has promised to hold a referendum on Europe’s fiscal pact, dealing a hammer-blow to Angela Merkel’s “non-negotiable” plans to impose austerity on the Eurozone. The French president, who is struggling in his bid to be re-elected, said he intended to insert the “balanced budget” rule into the French constitution, as agreed in the pact. But in a concession that will dismay the German Chancellor, he said he was prepared offer the electorate a say on the controversial issue. “If the Senate were to block the rule’s adoption, then before the end of 2012 I would organise a referendum to ask the French people what they think,” he said, The Telegraph writes.
The European Commission is preparing a major shift in economic strategy, fearing that excessive fiscal tightening will inflict unnecessary damage on a string of Eurozone countries. Officials believe they have enough legal leeway to relax budget deficit … read more

Well it’s been an absolutely fantastic ride so far for holders of Matra petroleum. For those who have stuck through the bad times and managed their holdings the future is looking increasingly bright. We’ve gone all out trying to source information on Barskiy. In-fact I’ve personally drove Matra Petroleum mad with incessant calls demanding to speak to those on the Board. Persistence pays off as a Mountie will tell you. There’s a chance that Barskiy could be present at the Extra Ordinary General Meeting on the 9th of May next month. This was confirmed to me by Matra Petroleum today although it wasn’t categorically confirmed it was agreed that it was a distinct possibility. Any appearance at the EGM will be picked up by the national financial press and could act as a further driver for the share-price. God knows how high it could … read more
Standard & Poor’s has put a “negative watch” on Argentina’s credit rating, citing “rising restrictions to international trade” and “steps to nationalise oil company YPF” as reasons for the move. Despite affirming its “B” credit rating, S&P added that the South American country’s recent actions “could exacerbate existing weaknesses in the economy”, pointing to high inflation and increasingly rigid government expenditure. The news came after Spain’s Repsol threatened legal action against any company that attempts to invest in YPF following its expropriation by Argentina last week, as the government expressed determination to “pay nothing at all” in compensation to the Spanish oil company, The Telegraph reports.
