Tipped for Greatness, Takeover & Bull runs this year, Afren Oil continued it’s decline the kiss of death came when it was placed on an online “Hotlist” Afren released 3 RNS’s this week. A TR-1 Notification, an Interim Management Statement & news that the Ebok North Fault Block has successfully encountered 370 ft net pay. All to no avail the sp continued to decline in tandem with most smallcap Oilers.

It’s been a bad week for smallcap oil & gas stocks. The European sovereign debt crisis lurches from one fiasco to another. The powers that be just keep burying their heads in the proverbial sand. There’ll be no resolution until the Greeks, Spanish & Italian economies are fundamentally  reformed or booted out of the Euro-zone otherwise it’s going to implode!

Began drilling work on a new well in New Mexico following an acreage swap deal involving the Bradley 29 Prospect in Eddy County. Caza recently completed the acreage swap with Mewbourne Oil Company, whereby Caza exchanged acreage in its Lynch Property in Lea County, New Mexico, for a position in Mewbourne’s Bradley 29 and Two Mesas Properties in Eddy County. Aminex;

Has completed drilling work at the onshore Ntorya-1 discovery in Tanzania’s Ruvuma Basin and is now planning to test the well. In February, Aminex reported that a gas discovery had been made in a 25 metre gross Cretaceous sandstone interval between 2,660 metres and 2,685 metres at Ntorya-1. The interval will now be tested to establish the level of production that can be obtained. The Caroil-6 rig has been released from the well and will be demobilized to make way for the rigless testing equipment that has been mobilised and is due to arrive on-site in the coming weeks. A production string has been run in the well, and a Christmas tree installed in preparation for the planned test sequence.

It’s been a busy week once again in the smallcaps oil & gas underverse. Forum Energy hit the headlines. At one point the stock was up over 180%! News came from GKP, Bahamas, & Afren to name but three. The rest as they say is now water under the bridge.

Bad news came this week for holders of Afren as the company announced that the Nunya-1x exploration well in the Keta block offshore Ghana has encountered thick and high quality water-bearing reservoirs. The objective of the Nunya-1x exploration well was to explore a large four-way dip closed Upper Cretaceous prospect in the Keta block, located offshore Ghana. The well intersected 153 metres of very good quality sandstone reservoirs, however they were interpreted as water-bearing. The well was drilled with the Marianas semi-submersible drilling rig to a total depth of 4,550 metres in a water depth of 1,687 metres.  Afren has … read more

Afren;

Struck oil this week at their high impact Simrit-2 exploration well, located on the Ain Sifni PSC in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Afren announced a significant oil accumulation based on the results of drilling, wireline logs and sidewall core sampling. Preliminary analysis of data collected during drilling indicates that the well has encountered an estimated 409 m of net oil. There are continuing strong hydrocarbon shows to the current depth of 3700 m, Afren and operator Hunt Oil Middle East plan to run casing at the current depth and continue drilling to a new total depth of circa 3,800 m to test additional zones of prospectivity. Afren has a 20 per cent. interest in the Ain Sifni PSC and is partnered by Hunt Oil Middle East (60 per cent. and operator) and the Kurdistan Regional Government (20 per cent.).
